There is no single best vendor for everyone — the right source depends on the specific peptide, your budget, and shipping needs. What separates a legitimate supplier is verifiable proof: batch-specific Certificates of Analysis (COAs) from an independent lab, posted publicly rather than emailed on request. Peptide Purity Rankings scores vendors on exactly that evidence — independently, with no paid placement.
How do I know if a peptide vendor is legit?
Check four things: batch-specific COAs from an independent lab such as Janoshik (not in-house testing); both HPLC purity and mass-spec identity on every report; a verifiable business with real contact details and clear research-use-only labeling; and consistent community feedback over time. If a purity claim cannot be traced to the exact vial you receive, treat it as marketing, not proof.
Are these vendor rankings paid or sponsored?

What are the warning signs of a scam or low-quality peptide vendor?
Common red flags: no COAs, or COAs only available by email; in-house-only testing; cryptocurrency as the only payment method; “FDA-approved” or human-use claims (which do not exist for research peptides); prices more than roughly 50% below market; and vague “pharmaceutical grade” language with no batch documentation to back it.
What happened to Peptide Sciences and Science.bio?
The market went through a major shake-up: Science.bio shut down in January 2026 and Peptide Sciences — for years the default recommendation — closed in March 2026, while other vendors faced FDA action. What the lab numbers actually mean and how to verify them.
What purity should a research peptide be?
By HPLC, 96% or higher is the widely accepted minimum and 99%+ is considered excellent; the US Pharmacopeia treats 98% as a baseline for many applications. Purity alone is not enough — identity must also be confirmed by mass spectrometry, matching the observed mass to the target peptide’s expected mass.
What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
A COA is a lab document that certifies three things about a peptide: its identity (by mass spectrometry), its purity (by HPLC), and often its net peptide content. The most trustworthy COAs are batch-specific — tied to the exact production lot you receive — and independently verifiable through the testing lab’s own portal.
What is a batch-specific COA and why does it matter?
A batch-specific COA is tied to the actual production batch in your vial — not a generic sample from months ago. Because purity and identity vary from batch to batch, it is the single most important document for verifying what you are buying, which is why the strongest vendors post it publicly rather than supplying it only on request.
What is the difference between HPLC purity and net peptide content?
HPLC purity measures how clean the peptide fraction is relative to other peptide-like impurities. Net peptide content measures how much of the vial’s total mass is actually peptide, after water, salts, and counter-ions are subtracted. A vial can read 99% pure by HPLC and still be only about 80% peptide by mass — both numbers matter, but only one is usually advertised.
Which labs are trusted for independent peptide testing?
The independent labs most referenced in the research community are Janoshik Analytical, MZ Biolabs, and Colmaric Analyticals, with Finnrick Analytics increasingly cited for large-scale vendor audits. Results from these accredited third-party labs carry far more weight than a vendor grading its own product with in-house testing.
How do I read a peptide COA?
Start with the header, not the headline number: confirm the batch number matches your vial and that the test date is recent. Then check HPLC purity (look for a single dominant peak at 99%+), the mass-spec result (observed mass equals expected mass), and a stated net peptide content. A spotless purity figure attached to the wrong batch is worth nothing.
Should I send my peptides for independent third-party testing?
It is most worthwhile when evaluating a new vendor, making an expensive purchase, or troubleshooting inconsistent results. Independent audits have found wide quality gaps — one lab testing roughly 450 BPC-157 samples found purity ranging from about 82% to 100%, and some vials sold as a given peptide did not contain it at all.
What are endotoxins and why do they matter in peptides?
Endotoxins are bacterial fragments that can contaminate poorly manufactured peptides. They matter because large-scale testing has found measurable endotoxin levels in roughly 8% of sampled peptides. For this reason, stronger vendors add endotoxin and heavy-metal screening (by ICP-MS) on top of standard HPLC purity and mass-spec identity testing.

What are research peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the building blocks of proteins. “Research peptides” are lab-synthesized compounds sold strictly for laboratory and in-vitro study, labeled for research use only and not for human consumption. Widely studied examples include BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, and the GLP-1-class peptides.
What are the most popular research peptides?
The compounds researchers ask about most include BPC-157, TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4), GHK-Cu, Ipamorelin, CJC-1295, Tesamorelin, MOTS-c, Epithalon, and the GLP-1-class peptides such as semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide. Why does peptide quality vary so much between vendors?
Peptide synthesis is difficult to get consistently right, and the market is largely unregulated, so quality varies vendor to vendor and even batch to batch. One testing startup that analyzed more than 5,000 samples across 173 vendors found substantial variation in both purity and potency — which is exactly why batch-level, independent verification matters more than brand reputation.

Are research peptides legal to buy?
In the US and most countries, peptides are required to include “for research use only” and “not for human consumption”. They are legally available to purchase for now, but given their effectiveness and the risk they pose to big pharma – it’s highly likely pharma lobbyist will use scare tactics to get them legally banned in the near future.
Are research peptides safe?
Research peptides are not FDA approved – because FDA approval costs on average about $173 million and takes 10+ years. Given many peptides have been around for years if not decades there is no incentive to pay for FDA approval since many are not patentable. Almost all supplements you can purchase are not FDA approved either. However, there is a large population of individuals that have seen very real, tangible results. Quality is the biggest risk. Independent testing has consistenly found mislabeled, under-dosed, and endotoxin-contaminated vials on the market. Do not trust PDFs a vendor offers to email you or has posted on their website unless it links to a 3rd party hosted lab website and is recent. Anyone can edit a PDF and just because a lab report from 2025 showed perfect results doesn’t not mean the batch you’re buying is of the same purity and quality.

How should research peptides be stored?
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide powder is best stored frozen, around -20°C, for long-term stability of one to two years or more. Once reconstituted, peptides should be refrigerated (roughly 2–8°C / 36–46°F) and used within a shorter window. Keep all vials away from light and heat.
Does shipping time or heat ruin peptides?
Lyophilized peptides are relatively stable, and short-term temperature swings in transit generally will not meaningfully degrade them — which is why many ship without ice. Reconstituted peptides are far more fragile. Even so, reputable vendors use sealed, light-protected, and often insulated packaging to protect product integrity.
